Governing any form of creativity can stifle your organization's development when it restricts the free flow of ideas and their experimentation of them. Creativity and innovation are essential to the progression of an organization. Improvements in an organization are propelled by new solutions to problems and the exploration of new ideas. The development of any organization can be stifled if creativity is restricted even in a world where machines are creating.

  1. It Demotivates People

Creative endeavors can lead to a more motivated and engaged workforce, which can help to promote a more positive atmosphere for development. Creativity can be a powerful motivator for people because it helps them tap into their unique skills, encourages them to think outside of the box, and allows them to express themselves in different ways. When people feel that their creative freedom is being compromised, they may become disengaged from their work or simply not put forth their best effort. This can lead to a decrease in productivity and motivation. This motivation can be lost with or without the use of a machine for creativity.

  2. Communication And Collaboration Deteriorate

Creative thinking can lead to improved communication and collaboration which fosters the development of better products and services. When we govern creativity with too many rules it limits the creative process. This leaves people feeling frustrated and less likely to contribute to new ideas. When people are not trusted to come up with creative solutions this leads to a lack of trust between people and prevents effective communication.

  3. Banality Becomes Rife

Creativity can help to stimulate and inspire new ideas, which can help to innovate solutions to development problems. Innovation increases customer satisfaction, revenue, and market share by bringing new features to existing products or processes. When we over-govern creativity we create a culture of stale ideas, repetitive thinking, and a widespread lack of creativity. People over-emphasize adhering to rules, are afraid to take risks where needed, and fear failure.

  4. Shields Ineffective Traditional Hierarchal Structures

Creativity can help to break down the ineffective traditional hierarchal structures in an organization, which can foster a more productive and cooperative atmosphere for development tasks. When employees feel equal it allows them to freely contribute to ideas without worrying about being criticized. It also allows them to collaborate more easily. A traditional hierarchal structure can create a rigid chain of command that does not allow the flow of new ideas or approaches to be explored. Traditional hierarchies are often competing for rank within themselves instead of collaborating which limits their creative potential.

Machines are becoming increasingly sophisticated and are capable of taking over many creative processes in a variety of ways. Governing and restricting the use of them can stifle your organization's development. If people could learn to sow with a needle and thread, they can adapt to learning to sow with a sowing machine. Many creative fields are being disrupted and like fashion to be "Haute Couture" you will really need to know your stuff and be people orientated. If AI governance and ethics put breaks on any form of creativity it could negatively affect production, especially where there is a great demand for that creativity.
