Roche wanted to provide the same amount of medical advances at half the cost to society. Roche initiated a pilot program with 1,000 users to test Starmind’s knowledge management solution, which was chosen for its detailed reporting and analytics. The Starmind platform leverages artificial intelligence to tap into employee knowledge, creating a real-time network for on-demand access to accurate and updated information. The company adopted an agile approach, allowing for experimentation and adaptability during the pilot. The performance and feedback from the pilot would inform the future roadmap. Starmind’s features, including automatic translation for Roche’s international presence, were tested during this phase. Roche’s user base on the Starmind platform grew exponentially, reaching nearly 9,000 users in 2023. The platform, which began as a grassroots effort, has become integral to the company culture, saving 91,000 hours by facilitating over 10,000 knowledge-based search queries and 14,000 inquiries about finding internal experts. Roche expanded the translation feature of Starmind, allowing employees to ask questions in multiple languages. The company integrated Google Cloud Search for easier access to information and is exploring further integrations with its HR system and other knowledge management systems. The Starmind platform aligns with Roche’s vision of doubling medical advances at half the cost. [2]
